Variety KC Go Baby Go Build Event

The initiative is assisted by the robotics club at Barstow and the physical therapy department from a local university who modify electric toy cars for children who are physically and developmentally disabled. The cars, purchased for less than $300 at Walmart and other stores, offer an alternative to motorized wheelchairs that cost $15,000 to $20,000.

Each year we get more applications than we can fill. The total cost of this year’s effort is $10,000.

The success  of the Variety KC- GoBabyGo! Program is demonstrated by proven mobility of our young “drivers.”   We have never had a child not be able to use their adapted set of wheels.  Therapists and physicians report positive growth in various areas of development and families tell us amazing stories about increased happiness, less acting out, broader horizons for their children.
