Marc Harrell
Chief Inclusion Officer/Executive Director
Marc Harrell serves as Executive Director of Variety KC, where he leads the organization’s mission to advance inclusive spaces, programs, and opportunities for children and families across the Kansas City region. Prior to joining staff, Marc worked alongside Variety KC beginning in 2007 and served on the Board of Directors for more than eight years, including three years as President. During that time and beyond, he has helped guide the growth of the Inclusion Revolution throughout the metro, supporting inclusive playgrounds, sports complexes, special community projects, and accessible features throughout Kansas City.
In addition to his nonprofit leadership, Marc is Market Manager and General Manager for Steel City Media Kansas City, overseeing Q104, KC102.1, 94.1 KFKF, and Mix 93.3. He recently celebrated more than two decades with Steel City Media, a privately held, Pittsburgh-based company known for its strong local focus and long-standing commitment to the communities it serves.
Marc is a graduate of the University of Kansas and a devoted Jayhawk basketball fan, a condition for which there is no known cure. Outside of work, he is an avid traveler who rarely turns down the chance to explore a new destination. Marc lives in Kansas City with his spouse, Ken, and their Border Collie rescues, Tanner and Andy.
