From Joy Sedlacek:

I first learned about Variety in 2008 when Nancy Pagel asked the Royals to listen to what Variety was about. We had a meeting with Deborah Wiebrecht and immediately fell in love with the mission of Variety. What this charity is able to do is help those families who have fallen through the cracks be mobile, be social, feel included and act and move like a kid should. I was blessed with two able body children and Variety has opened my eyes to think about what it would be like to give your child a bath, get them in the car just to go to the grocery store and into bed without the necessary means to do it. I am blessed beyond belief and these families in Kansas City are blessed to have so many advocates working on their behalf to create a mobile lifestyle for these kids who would not have it otherwise. We saw firsthand how Variety provides an immediate need to those families who have a child with a disability or special need. In just a moment, these children are able to ride a bike down the street with their friends, ride down the grocery aisles of Hy-Vee, and just be a kid! Variety has shown me that every kid regardless of their physical or mental ability, should have the opportunity to just be a kid, be mobile and enjoy life to its fullest.

Through our 80 Stories, 80 Days campaign, we are asking all of you who have been touched by our organization in any way to share your story and help us gain more support for Kansas City children with developmental disabilities.

Unique Connect will donate directly to us for every story we collect through this campaign, so please submit your story now
