Finnegan is a go-getter. His desire to always be moving and playing is tiring for us, but we also realize that his motivation and fun-loving personality is going to serve him well in the future. Currently, Finn communications with sign language, gestures, a few words, and a whole lot of attitude! He is an extremely funny kid, and gets great satisfaction out of making those around him laugh. He is able to walk independently, but also loves holding mom and dad’s hands for help. He enjoys being read to, especially the Dear Zoo book and The Wonky Donkey, if you can get him to sit still for any length of time. He has been a great blessing to our family and has taught us, our families, and our friends that you cannot define anyone with a diagnosis. When we found out we were pregnant with our first child we decided we wanted his gender to be a surprise at birth. Little did we know, he had another surprise in store. Receiving his diagnosis of Down Syndrome was difficult over the past two years. It became apparent very early on that Finnegan will not allow himself to be limited by a diagnosis and as for what he will achieve? Well, his book is still being written.
