Sweet Gregory needs help from Variety KC

My son, Gregory, is a loving 11year-old boy. He also has autism. Sure, our family’s autism journey hasn’t been easy. But Gregory has also taught me more than I ever expected. He’s awoken so much within me that I feel transformed as a person.

An autism diagnosis will force to you change your expectations. It just will. I still have the same hopes and dreams for my son, but it is not fair to him or anyone in my family to force my expectations of what I had hoped being a mother would be onto him.

I think that iPads are a great tool for education. iPads have customizable options, the iPad can be tailored to the child and his specific needs, which make them more attractive than traditional learning devices. In fact, many children can master the use of an iPad faster than adults.

The world for an autistic child is full of imagery, rather than words. On an iPad, an autistic child can create a sentence or even story using a series of images. By doing so, the child can communicate with parents, caretakers, and instructors without frustration. Since the iPad is mobile, children with autism can take this communication tool wherever they go. It will be very appreciated and very helpful if Gregory qualifies for it! It will mean a lot to him//us.
