Adam is diagnosed with Down Syndrome and Trisomy 21. Having a child with special needs has taught us a lot about what matters in life. We all have abilities and disabilities but the most important thing is the ability to love. Our children, especially those not encumbered by the trappings of intelligence or physical prowess, know how to love! Variety KC and those who support it help these kids communicate and in turn help their families and the community learn and grow!
Adam‘s siblings are pros at understanding him most of the time. Yet his world consists of more than our little family and for Adam to be a part of the community he will need to communicate with friends, teachers, and other members. This is when a speech impediment gets in the way. An assisted communication device would bridge the gap and help him succeed. Unfortunately for some families with limited resources this is a financial obstacle. Variety KC and it’s donors help us overcome this obstacle and give Adam the helping hand he needs to walk over that bridge! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts or as Adam says, “deedo”!!!
