Meet William

If you believe every kid should be active, be social, and belong – please donate today

William is a curious and loving two year old little boy, he brings a smile to everyone’s face with his laugh. He has a diagnosis of speech and expressive/receptive delays. It is also suspected that he has autism. He is currently on a wait list which is 6-8 months to be seen at Children’s Mercy to get tested for Autism. William is non-verbal and relies on grunting crying and tantrums to get his needs met. He occasionally uses gestures to communicate.
William currently received weekly speech therapy and monthly occupational therapy through Missouri First Steps. He has an older brother Jayce who has been in speech therapy for three years since he was 2 years old, he has severe phonological disorder.
William has been working on increasing verbal communication for 9 months with minimal progress. We have tried signs and pictures as well, with minimal success. We feel he would greatly benefit from a device to help him communicate with us.
