Summer is the perfect time to explore Kansas City and scout out new, inclusive activities for the whole family! Variety has been hard at work, breaking barriers and championing the #inclusionrevolution so that all children have the opportunity to Be Active, Be Social and BELONG in their community. Now is the time to celebrate inclusion by going out and exploring these awesome accessible activities around town!

 

Starlight Theatre Kansas City

Starlight offers an abundance of programming throughout the summer. Legally Blonde The Musical hits the stage in July! Keep an eye on Variety’s social media page for details on how to win free tickets.

Legends Field, Monarchs Baseball Team

Catching a quick baseball game has never been easier! Centrally located near the Legends shopping area, Legends Field is filled with accessible features!

Kidscape Johnson County Museum

Located downstairs in the Johnson County Museum, Kidscape offers over 3,500 square feet of interactive play. The exhibit was designed so kids could fully immerse themselves in various historical and community landscapes, complete with props and dress up options.

  • Sensory Friendly Mondays is a time for families with children with sensory processing differences to enjoy the exhibit with lower occupancy. Kidscape encourages registration for these specific offerings as attendance is limited to 30 guests.
  • Kidscape is wheelchair accessible

  • Elevator access is close to exhibit
  • One enter/exit door in exhibit to limit elopement

 

iFly Kansas City

For the thrill seekers and true adventurist, iFly All Abilities Night is the perfect summer experience! iFly’s website emphasizes, “regardless of physical or cognitive challenges, everyone should be given the opportunity to spread their wings.” To watch people of all abilities take flight or inquire about participating in an All Abilities Night in Kansas City, click here!

Kansas City Zoo

Kansas City Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo continues to grow and offer new exhibits to guests. Offering an abundance of indoor and outdoor exhibits, you can keep kids entertained on the hottest of summer days! In the fall they will open their new indoor 650,000 gallon aquarium that was designed with accessibility and inclusivity in mind.

Kauffman Stadium

Kauffman Stadium, Royals

Weeknight or weekend end, there is never a bad time to catch a Royals game! The Royals have been strong supporters of Variety and have recently added several new accessible features to their stadium. Now guests of ALL abilities have the opportunity to participate in all Kauffman Stadium has to offer.
