Variety is an awesome organization, and Kansas City is blessed to have it available to serve families. I was blessed to be a recipient of their Kids On the Go Grant program. I teach in a Center-Based Resource classroom for students with significant disabilities. Variety provided my classroom with a large trike. The trike has brought a lot of joy to my students while also increasing their exercise, and improving their muscle tone. The students enjoyed riding the trike in the annual Pioneer Trail triathlon beside their typically developing peers. The students also enjoy riding the trike during PE and for fun with typically developing peers. Many of my students feel a sense of accomplishment as they master the skill of riding independently. This joy and excitement would not be possible without the help of Variety.

Beyond the Grant program, Variety was a tremendous resource for me as I helped a family in my classroom with attaining a wheelchair accessible van. While it was a large task, Variety provided me with an extensive list of resources, and knowledgeable support. Variety Director Deborah, was invaluable in her understanding, knowledge, and encouragement.

KC Variety is a wonderful organization that I personally have seen great things from. KC Variety recognizes and understands the difficulties that families with children who have special needs face, and they go above and beyond in helping to meet the needs. The Kansas City area is truly beyond blessed to have such a compassionate and knowledgeable charity organization.

Through our 80 Stories, 80 Days campaign, we are asking all of you who have been touched by our organization in any way to share your story and help us gain more support for Kansas City children with developmental disabilities.
