For over 90 years, Variety KC has been dedicated to making the Kansas City Metro a more inclusive and welcoming community. Our mission is to create a future where every child can Be Active, Be Social, and Belong. From building inclusive playgrounds to creating the first all-inclusive airport, we’ve worked tirelessly to break down barriers—but our work is far from over.
That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce our newest, proudest initiative… Variety KC’s MOBILE ACCESSIBLE RESTROOM!
What is a Mobile Accessible Restroom?
This 24-foot portable trailer will revolutionize event inclusivity in the KC metro area. The first of its kind in the Midwest—and the second in the United States—this Mobile Accessible Restroom will provide vital access to countless individuals at festivals, concerts, and community gatherings.
The Mobile Accessible Restroom is fully equipped with features like a ramp with an easy-access button, a hydraulic lift, a universal changing table, and a handheld showerhead with a wash-down drain. Driven by the voices of our families, Variety KC spent the past year meticulously designing and developing this accessible solution. Variety KC’s Mobile Accessible Restroom will break down barriers and make Kansas City a place where EVERYONE can fully participate and enjoy our vibrant community events!
Why did Variety KC create this?
As Variety KC strives to place a Universal Changing Table in all settings around our Kansas City community, unfortunately, we can’t move quickly enough. We believe that ALL individuals should have the opportunity to use the bathroom with dignity and not be forced to be changed on the floor, in a car, or not be able to attend an event simply due to the inability to relieve themselves. Can you imagine? For many of our families, this is a daily reality that limits their ability to engage in the dynamic cultural life of our city.
Variety KC’s Mobile Accessible Restroom eliminates these barriers of social isolation and compromised dignity, empowering individuals with disabilities to live full and enriching lives. Beyond Kansas City, Variety KC’s Mobile Accessible Restroom will attract visitors from other states, offering them the assurance that they can enjoy events here with accessible restroom facilities.
When will Variety KC’s Mobile Accessible Restroom hit the town?
Variety KC’s Mobile Accessible Restroom will debut in February 2025! Our hope is that ALL events will now have the opportunity to be accessible no matter what the circumstances – even when events are outside, last minute, etc. (Think… Super Bowl/World Series parades, the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026, festivals, community events, fundraising walks/runs, and so much more!)

Say no more, LET’S CELEBRATE!
